Festival Line ups have always been less inclusive to female artists and TRNSMT 2024 is no exception to that. The TRNSMT line-up this year is, just to put it plainly, ridiculous! Out of the 47 artists that are playing over the 3 days only 10 of them are solo female artists and 8 of them are female-fronted bands, that’s including the main stage and the King Tuts stage!

Since starting up in 2017, TRNSMT has never had a female headliner, the headline act to have a woman at the festival was Pulp keyboardist Candida Doyle, who played TRNSMT in 2023. Many fans of the festival took to X to complain about the lack of female artists performing this year.

However, because TRNSMT sells out every single year, the drive for the organisers to change and make a more diverse line-up is practically non-existent. If fans stopped attending the festival as a form of a ‘protest’ then the organisers would have to make an adjustment to their headliners and line-ups because they would be losing out on money.

So we can complain all we want on social media, but if people are still buying tickets and they are still selling out TRNSMT, then they are not going to want to change! Complaining on social media is not the way to get people to listen!
